Shade 7 are a multilingual publishing company that produce pop up books on educational stories from the Quran, along with digitals apps. Their aim is to teach children in a fun and interactive way. Shade 7 was the first to publish a high quality pop-up book based on the Quran. Their books are high quality, and along with their digital interactive apps, they provide a beautiful way of teaching and learning about Islamic stories.

Hajera Memon is the Managing Director of Shade 7 Limited. Hajera is a qualified lawyer, but she wanted to do something to support children to learn more about Islam, and so she founded Shade 7 in 2012 with the aim of bringing stories from the Quran to life in an interactive and memorable way. The unique name ‘Shade 7’ comes from the hadith: “Seven types of people will be shaded by God under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His” which states that one of those seven will be “a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic” (Bukhari & Muslim).

The first pop-up book produced by Shade 7 is based on the Story of the Elephant in Surah Fil. The book drew international attention and Shade 7 won several prestigious awards, including the British Female Inventors and Innovators Network International (BFIIN); the Global Women Inventors and Innovators Network’s British Female Exceptional Creative Winner Award, and the Special Recognition BFIIN Award 2014 for determination and tenacity at the British Invention Show.
