We launched this new contest in July and kept it going all through summer. Masha'Allah we were amazed and thankful for hundreds of entries from all over the world. The entries ranged from kids as young as 4 all the way up to 18. We had two categories: a winner under the age of twelve and one over. The prize was 50 Minecraft coins or 50 dollars of Amazon vouchers.
Some of the entries blew us away! The detail of their projects of both internal and external facets of the Kaaba were phenomenal! They made videos, took photos, and posted them on their social media.
We had three judges for our competition, two who were under the age of twelve as our Minecraft Experts, who shortlisted the top five. Our other judge was Tez Ilyas, a professional comedian famous for his work on Man like Mobeen and The Tez O’clock Show.
From the beginning we were amazed by his enthusiasm. Tez is a practising muslim who has incoperated his religion into his comedy act. He was thrilled to be part of the competition because he’s a fan of Minecraft.
Tez had the honour of selecting the winner! Out of kindness, he made a video which is posted down below:
Our winners were 12+ Winner -Mohammed Sadik and Uthmaan and Under 12 Winner - Zaki Usmani and here are images of their work below!
We hope to hold more such events in the future, using creative tools like Minecraft in interesting ways! It’s incredible to see the talent and ingenuity of all those who entered and we’d love to see it again!

3. Eggs – eggs are power houses of energy and vitamins and minerals. Boil a single egg the night before and have it after your overnight oats for a nutritious boost. For large families, pancakes are ideal as adding flour makes the eggs go a long way. Again there’s plenty of options for pancakes, which should please everyone on the family, such as maple syrup; lemon and sugar; strawberries and cream, or even melted chocolate. Try Nigella Lawson’s American pancakes – they can be mixed all at once in a blender, or by hand: https://www.nigella.com/recipes/american-breakfast-pancakes
4. If you struggle to eat at unsocial hours, how about a smoothie? Include a banana or an avocado to keep you going for longer. If you have a tendency to put on weight, use skimmed milk, and if you tend to lose weight in Ramadan, use full fat or Jersey milk to maintain your calorie intake.
5. Try making a meze of different items, which is typical of a Turkish or Arab breakfast, for example: hummus; plain yogurt; fried chicken livers; mixed salads; falafel; olives; foul (cooked beans); soft cheese; feta cheese; halloumi, and cooked meats. Serve with pitta bread, and you shouldn’t be hungry all day!
They say a little of what you fancy does you good, so if you’ve been fasting and eating sensibly, why not have a treat once a week and have those spicy sausages or custard doughnuts? Be sure to add some healthy salad or fruit to ensure you get enough fibre and nutrients.
Over the past year, the My Salah Mat team have been working hard on something very special for this year’s Ramadan and Eid celebrations. Even with the current difficult situation we find ourselves in, we still want to maintain our love and excitement for Ramadan, and keep our spirits high for Eid Insha’Allah.
Therefore, the very special “My Salah Mat Ramadan edition” will be available on our website a month before Ramadan Insha'Allah. This limited edition of the beloved My Salah Mat is a combination of the original design and our new celebratory design, with confetti and lanterns presented on a background of yellow and a traditional mosaic pattern. The box also states Ramadan Kareem and Eid Mubarak, making it an extra special gift. Masha’Allah, after endless designs we are very happy with this version, and we have a total of 500 available.
In addition, the mat now comes with four new languages (11 in total). One of our aims here at My Salah Mat is to make this prayer mat available to everyone, regardless of their country or language, and from the start, My Salah Mat had a vision to expand on the number of languages it is available in. We started with seven languages (English, French, Arabic, Malaysian, Indonesian, Turkish and Urdu), and now we have increased it by four more languages (German, Spanish, Bengali and Russian), which was due to high demand. We have more languages in the process and we will always be innovating and designing, so if we do not yet have your language on the MySalahMat, rest assured that we are working on it!
It is part of the spirit of Ramadan to give in charity and share food and gifts, and My Salah Mat means you can give the best gift of all: the gift of salah! Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated: “Allah’s Messenger (SAWS) was the most generous of people, and he was the most generous in the month of Ramadan…” (Bukhari and Muslim). In addition, during Ramadan, our focus is on praying as much as we can, as well as fasting. No doubt our children will become aware of this and so it is the perfect opportunity to encourage them to pray. Not only that, but while you are concentrating on your own salah, the My Salah Mat can keep your child entertained as they engage in this enjoyable learning experience. Alternatively, the My Salat Mat makes a beautiful Eid gift that will set your child, or the child of someone special, on the right path inshaAllah.
We have designed this packaging because we want to make Ramadan and Eid special and provide designs that represent our Islamic traditions and celebrations. The visual representation is appealing to Muslims non-Muslims alike, and is something that can be appreciated by everyone InshaAllah. We hope you like the design, as the Ramadan themed designed box makes My Salah Mat the perfect gift for Ramadan and Eid. We sincerely hope that it makes it special for your family, friends and loved ones.

They truly got the most out of it. Have a look at some of the wonderful mosques children have created with their parents from scratch...

Yousef then began teaching himself how to draw and paint, he discovered a natural attraction to the dreamlike states of Watercolors and then decided upon himself that this will be the medium he was to focus on. Yousef now takes his brush and canvas everywhere and uses it to share the beauty of the world through his paintings.
Yousef- Waterlilies by Claude Monet. They are gigantic, they span across an entire room and they magically transfer you through time to his personal garden where he enjoyed all the colours of his water lilies. Observe closely and you will even start hearing sounds, sounds of birds chirping in the background and tiny hisses of insects, that's how good this painting is at evoking emotions
If you'd like to see the painting process please watch the video below. Insha'Allah.

]]>Muslim parents have come up with a range of innovative ideas to make Ramadan and Eid a special and enjoyable time. One such idea has been to ‘build’ a mosque in the house for the children, and some parents have shared their efforts online. This has ranged from decorative cardboard cutouts of a mosque placed in the corner of the room to more elaborate structures. For example, Modern Muslim Mama shared pictures on Instagram of the ‘Blue Mosque’ which they built at home; it has wall to wall carpeting, a mimbar, a wudhu station, a library, and even a remote-controlled chandelier! Building a mosque at home encourages children to use their imagination and highlights the importance of going to the mosque.
Here at My Salah Mat, we were so impressed by some of these mosques that we gifted the families with a free My Salah Mat. We trust that this made a useful addition to the home-mosques and is further encouraging children to pray.
Below are pictures of these beautiful creations. Alhamdulillah.
Insha'Allah we hope this inspires other parents to build a home-mosque for next Eid, or as a permanent fixture at home.
Jazak'Allah to all the bloggers who tagged us and shared their amazing creations with us.

Here is Sister Sarah's story -
-
-
This year towards the end of Ramadan I had run out of ideas for questions to ask my son, who had recently turned 5. I asked my brother and he came up with the question, "How many surahs are in the Quran?". I knew that I had not gotten around to teaching my son about this particular topic, but I figured it would be a learning question. So even if he didn't know today we would teach him.
Since I told my family he would not know the answer we all stood around with encouraging smiles as he opened the drawer and read the question aloud. To our surprise as soon as he finished reading, he blurted out loudly "114!!"
I was in disbelief and was incredibly proud, yet curious how he knew. He yelled out that he learned it from his My Salah Mat! He had been exploring the MSM in his Mosque Prayhouse the day before. I was on the brink of tears! I love when my kids learn through play. sA, it amazes me how much they absorb from their surroundings."
Masha'Allah such a beautiful story.
