A Gathering for a Shared Purpose
An Invitation to the Children Not Numbers Iftar
Our founder, Kamal Ali, was recently honoured to attend the Children Not Numbers Iftar event, where community leaders, supporters, and advocates gathered for a shared purpose: ensuring that the voices of Gaza’s children are not forgotten.
The evening brought together individuals from different backgrounds, united by a commitment to speak up and take action for those affected by the ongoing genocide.
For Kamal, meeting the people behind the initiative was one of the most powerful parts of the evening. The room was filled with individuals who were not simply discussing the issue, but actively working to support children in Gaza through real projects and tangible support.

How the Initiative Began
One of the most moving moments of the event came from hearing how Children Not Numbers first started.
The organisation did not begin as a large charity or established institution. Instead, it started with a small group of mothers who could not ignore the images and stories emerging from Gaza. They felt compelled to act.
At the beginning, there was no detailed strategy or large infrastructure. There was simply an intention to help.
In just two years, that intention has grown into an impactful initiative supporting children through a range of services including medical care, food support, education programmes, and assistance with evacuating children who require urgent treatment.
The growth of the organisation shows how powerful community-led action can be when people choose to respond rather than remain silent.
A Community Effort to Support Gaza’s Children
Presenting a Donation Raised Through the Plushy Campaign
During the Iftar event, Kamal had the opportunity to present a cheque of over £18,000 raised through the My Salah Mat Plushy campaign.

A portion of every plush toy produced by My Salah Mat is dedicated to supporting charitable causes, including initiatives that support children in Gaza. Through the support of customers and the wider community, this campaign has raised significant funds that contribute directly to projects helping vulnerable children.
Join hundreds of families who have donated through our plushies
Kamal emphasised that this achievement would not have been possible without the continued support of families who choose to purchase My Salah Mat products and contribute to charitable efforts at the same time.
It is a reminder that small actions — even something as simple as purchasing a product — can collectively create meaningful change.
