Gifting My Salah Mat to Mufti Menk!

On the first of January bank holiday 2019, we had the opportunity to go to the Light Upon Light (Shadows of Doubt) faith tour in Cardiff where a peace event was being held. It was a sold out venue with appearances and talks from Sh. Abu Abdissalaam, Sh. Abu Abdillah Yunnus, and Mufti Menk.

We had a stall at the event to showcase the My Salah Mat, in order to spread the word and demonstrate the prayer mat as well as to connect with the wider community. 

During the event we had the opportunity to meet with Mufti Menk at a book signing! Ismail ibn Musa Menk, better known as Mufti Menk, is a scholar of Islam who has been named one of the most 500 Influential Muslims in the world by the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan for multiple years. In the past we have always been impressed by his insights and modern way of teaching and exploring the faith.

We queued up to see him and it was an exciting experience! After giving him his book to sign, we asked if we could gift him the My Salah Prayer Mat. He seemed really happy for the gift and told us ‘this is really needed in the community.’ To have such a great scholar say something like this was an amazing experience.

The My Salah Mat was well received by the Cardiff Community in general at the event. We made a lot of sales and everyone who came to see it told us it was a great invention. My Salah Mat started as a small one person project, with the intention of helping kids to learn to pray, so now It’s incredible to be able to connect with the wider community.
